The death toll of the massacre in Mgboshimini
community in Obio Akpor Local Government area of Rivers state has risen to
twenty-five.
The recent figure is against the initial
fifteen that were confirmed killed when the incident occurred.
DAILY POST reports that ten bodies were later found in different parts of the
community including those who were hit by stray bullet and other corpses found
by the waterfront.
However, the Rivers state Police Command has
maintained that only ten people were killed in the carnage.
In the meantime, the Police says some
individuals will soon be declared wanted in relation to the killing at
Mgboshimini area of Rivers state.
Spokesman of the Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni
disclosed this in reaction to the killings.
He
said preliminary investigation revealed that the gunmen were members of Iceland
cult group, adding that they invaded the community through the water ways at
Eagle Island.
